Ministry Approved Curriculum
Course Outline
An eight session classroom course curriculum is designed to meet the minimum CC Standard of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and based upon the approved Ontario textbook, and the official MTO driver's handbook. Materials presented in this outline are suggested, because of the writing date, May 2009.
It is expected that persons who use this outline will have the training, and the experience, to
adapt to the materials suggested to the needs of the students attending the program.
Time considerations
This course outline is designed for 4 days (week‐ends from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm of 150 minutes per day excluding lunch break of 30 minutes) or 8 days (week‐days evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm of 150 minutes per day).
The MTO guideline suggests a minim total of 40 hours or 2400 minutes of scheduled instruction which is divided into 20 hours or 1200 minutes of in‐class room, 10 hours or 600 minutes of in‐car training and 10 hours or 600 minutes of home link program where the student will be receiving a student book. Student will be engaged in different activities during these 10 hours of home link program.
The week‐day course outline is designed to be completed in 8 days at the rate of 2 evenings
per week for 4 weeks, from 6:00 pm to 8:30pm.
Testing
The testing suggested in this outline will require creation of tests to cover the material presented.
A sample question of the test is included to show the type of test that will be the basis for
the pass/fail mark in this program.
